April 21st, POLYRHYTHMS Third Sunday Jazz Workshop & Matinee Series welcomes the Songbird Jazz Quartet to the Redstone Room, in the RME on the corner of 2nd & Main in Davenport.   A Jazz Demystifying Workshop begins at 3 pm, followed by a matinee concert from 6–8.

Members of the Songbird Jazz Quartet are Bethann Gavin – vocalist, Craig Heidgerken – guitar, Robert T. Rosenstiel – bass, and Dave Soliz – drums.

The Songbird Jazz Quartet creates an atmosphere best described as vocal jazz standards meets back alley jazz.  The guitar, bass and drums rhythm sections create a soft, pillowy pocket for vocal renditions from the musical catalogs of Ella Fitzgerald, Carmen McRae, Diana Krall, Julie London and many more.  The Songbird, Bethann Gavin-Heidgerken, a first call vocalist, arranger, with Quad City native and multi-instrumentalist Craig Heidgerken, who is one of the area’s premier guitarists found a new love in exploring American jazz standards together as a duo.

The Songbird Jazz Quartet found another gear and blossomed with the addition of bassist Robert Rosenstiel, and drummer Dave Soliz.  This group creates an intimate, fun and light atmosphere to their performance as an attempt to remind us that jazz hasn’t always been exclusive to the concert hall. Take a ride with this group to the contemporary feel of fun loving back alley saloons of yesteryear.  Make no mistake, the music is taken quite seriously but delivered with a light heart. The band can be seen regularly at many venues throughout the region.
